What are your favorite Spring colors?
Although these days I prefer neutral colors in shades of creamy whites and linen, today I brought home some cheerful, pastel-colored flowers from the grocery store and I decided to experiment with more color in my living room.
I’m not sure if I like it yet, but I snapped some shots to show you.
While I was at it, I decided to give my mantel a new Springtime look.
And I brought out my old, miniature clay pots, filled them with moss and placed small ferns on top of two candlesticks.
Can you see the white key dangling? I kept the basket of my fake hydrangeas in front of the mirror, although I think it’s time to get some real ones in there.
There something so adorable about these baby clay pots with their stains and cracks, I just love em.
In keeping with the green tones, I brought out my favorite vintage, oil painting from our bedroom. I love this young girl and her dog, although Michael says she’s creepy.
I found her in an antique store years ago, and Mr. Moss surprised me at Christmas with her. She’s actually quite big, 34 inches tall by 30 inches wide.
And I found a way to incorporate Grandma’s pretty green brooch into my Spring décor.

My thrift store chalkboard has a quote by Rainer Maria Reike that reads,
“Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems.”
A bowl of neon-bright oranges sits next to my stained, little book on American history dated 1892, along with my latest Jane Austen read. I love history. And whenever I read fiction, I enjoy historical novels too.
Speaking of fiction, I liked Persuasion , have you read it?
This mother-child sculpture was in my very first office. It represents the concept of “mirroring a child’s emotions” the gorgeous theory of British psychoanalyst D. W. Winnicott.
And this couch also came out of my office. I had it slipcovered years ago and I can’t imagine letting it go because of all those powerful memories associated with it. Although one side of the slipcovers has finally ripped after all those washings.
