goodbye white floors

tumblr_neprezrJJz1u39a9po1_1280

For the next four days we’ll be getting our new wood flooring throughout our entire house.

My graduation happened on Sunday---(hooray-more on that later) and before I had time to come down from my emotional high, the installers started arriving to remove all the ugly old carpet and orange colored wood that has been here since we moved in.

I’m obviously delirious with excitement.

But it also means saying goodbye to my dreamy white floors which I’ve always been drawn to…oh how I love these images. So pretty and pristine.

But honestly, not for us.

Not with our lifestyle. With my big dudes around here and my baby Stella with her black shedding fur. I just don’t want the extra upkeep.

Although I do plan to have white in my new entryway whenever that happens.

But there comes a point when we have to be realistic about our decorating preferences and our lifestyle right?

Here’s a Before photo of the living room.

I can’t wait to share an update on our fixer upper. Now that my yoga teacher training is complete I’ll be getting back to the house,  hope to have a little tour for you all. Show you some of our big changes.

And I’m SOOO excited to be back. Especially to reconnect with my dear blogger friends. Hopefully our computer won’t be disconnected for too long.

Welcome back and congratulations! I am so excited to hear all about the graduation and the next plans!

I love white floors, in fact I was just looking at Lauren Leiss blog and she has white painted floors. But I agree with you...not for my lifestyle. I have two black pips and they bring in little mud prints and hair.

Have a great week Leslie! I cannot wait to see the transformation!

So exciting Leslie! I love white floors but they wouldn't work in my house with a dog and messy boys! Can't wait to see what you do with your new floors!
Congrats on graduating!
Cheers!

Congratulations on graduating! I know it must be a very satisfying feeling! Looking forward to seeing where you go with the floors...we so need to do that, too.

Leslie,
Congratulations graduate! What a great achievement.
I'm selfishly giddy that you will be returning with posts of your creative renovations around your home.
I have pinned several rooms with white wood floors, but like you said, the reality of that working with a 90 lb. dog that can't help but scratch the wood floors we have. If there were painted white I'm sure it would be even more problematic.

congratulations, leslie! i don't blame you a bit. in addition to the maintenance there is also the resale thing. i don't know too many folks who would be cool with them. good luck on the forthcoming floors and projects. our kitchen is getting closer to completion. who knew that this little space would drag on like this!?! this week i have been scraping and painting windows. can't wait to see your updates! peace.

Hi Leslie, We had white painted floors in a previous sunroom and they were a pain to keep clean! Congrats on graduating and best of luck in your new adventure.

Your yoga training is finished, my kitchen and bathroom are finished, I'm taking off for Kauai for a family Christmas in just 25 days, but I am hoping that we can meet in January. At the moment my schedule is empty in January so let's set a date for either Ventura or Huntington Beach.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving on your new floors.
