ten ways to get creative with Fall foliage…

Are you gathering your sticks and leaves and berries on your walks? I sure hope so.

This is the trail that I run on with Stella.

Now that the weather is beginning to change I love to scope out the trails while I’m on them and lately I’ve been stopping to pick up some pretty sticks and branches. Are you a collector too?

Today I thought I’d show you what I did with my little pile of sticks. I also want to show you ten ways to decorate using simple-to-find objects from the outdoors. I mean,  really, truly easy to find items.

1. Sticks. Use them to make a rustic candle

2. Feathers. I filled a thrift store vase with a few…

3. Berries. I brought them inside and put them into a pretty pitcher (HERE)

We rarely see anything but sand and broken sand dollars on our beach walks. I am looking for driftwood to use as cloth pumpkin stems. If I find the right sizes, I might make the woodland candle - it looks so pretty.

Hi Leslie,

Lovely fall inspiration, loving the warm colors. I live the natural leaf idea in vases too! I have a similar candle but it is made with driftwood. Have a lovely week.

Your post is really putting me in the mood! I want to find some nice long stems with colored leaves for vases, I never seem to have much luck in that department though. Thanks for the ideas! :)

What a great simple idea for the candle. I have seen those in cute little shops but never thought to make one. Love it.
I am just getting rolling on some fall decorating. Sort of waiting on the completion of some outdoor projects and then I have plans.:) Love plans!!

Such lovely inspiration photos, Leslie! I want to make that fun candle! I did find something fun...a beautiful ring-tailed hawk feather in our backyard!

I just can't wait for it to start feeling like fall here...99 degrees today in the Dallas area. Ugh!! Starting next week I'm just going to pretend it's fallish and start incorporating some of your great ideas.

It's not really autumn here yet either. I'm still wearing my bright blue summer nail polish on my toes and have just put away my sandals. Lovely candle idea. We have a big wedding party here in a few weeks and after I tidy up the garden I'll be coming to you for inspiration! Xcat
