Well, it’s been an emotional roller coaster week and it appears to be winding down.
This past week my ninety-four year old grandmother has been in the hospital. At her precarious age we were prepared for anything, and so various aunts, uncles, and cousins all descended on the hospital wing to be there. And we waited.
And we didn’t know what was going to happen.
And while family members came and went, there were stretches of meandering hours that went by where I found myself sitting next to laughing, mischievous kids that I grew up with; only now, they’re all adults juggling their real life issues and they have their own families.

And there were conversations about life and kids and divorces and problems. And there were very funny moments, filled with outbursts of laughter and relief. Because when you’re sitting near Death,
and you are all connected by a single feisty, opinionated, grandmother who still wears hot pink nails and bright red lipstick on her good days, and has an eighty-eight year old boyfriend, you become aware that there is a lot of quirky humor in the bloodline.
thank goodness.
In the meantime, there is something on my mind following this crazy week. There is a powerful message about living that I gleaned from this blustery experience with aging and death. And it’s simply this.

Don’t wait.
Do it right now. Take one bold action today….

so in the end, you will have lived an outrageously brave and truthful life…
because the WORST thing in the whole world would be those gut-wrenching, aching, inconsolable feelings of regret and…
Life is too precious and too short to squander it away because we’re waiting
until we feel brave and deserving.
Don’t you agree?
Tell me what’s on your mind today…
