Hello friends.
This is my first holiday with all my stuff packed in storage but I couldn’t let Easter pass without giving you a few ideas for your table. You know how much I love styling tablescapes.
But since most of my dishes, linens and crafts are unavailable, I decided to make this a challenge to come up with seven inexpensive and oh-so-easy—touches to add to your table.
Are you in the mood for simplicity today?
Well these are the items I gathered for this post:
- empty jelly, spaghetti and a mason jar I had in the cupboard
- craft paints in pink, yellow and cream
- bag of moss
- bag of jelly beans
- thrift store jar for votive
- sheet of pretty paper from Paper Source
- scissors and ruler
- stick-on gems (for eggs)
- miniature wreath from Joann’s Crafts
- Silhouette Printable Tattoo Paper from Paper Source
This might me my favorite discovery since we relocated. Yep, I found a real, honest-to-goodness Paper Source store near us and it’s filled with lush, intoxicating paper products. Will you think I’m weird if I tell you that I could seriously spend hours just wandering around touching and gazing at paper?
(I’m not sure if there’s a diagnosis for that)
But while I was there, I spotted a lovely floral paper that I decided to use as the inspiration for this Easter post. My sheet measured 30 inches long by 20 inches wide and when I got home I just cut it in half to get two place mats. I paid $3.50 for the paper.
So here’s my first easy tip.
1. Paper for Placemats
If you don’t have a place to buy a fancy sheet of paper for your DIY place mat, there are other options. In the past I’ve used pieces of cardstock, wallpaper remnants and even pages out of a vintage book for place mats.
Who says your place mats have to be fabric?
2. Paint collected jars to add color
Since all my vases are in a box somewhere, I painted my jars in soft pastels.
3. Add moss to your centerpiece
I added moss around the centerpiece because I just love the color. I might nestle a few eggs in there for an added touch.
Also, what do you think of this stemware? I saw these at HomeGoods and I couldn’t resist them
because I thought the pattern resembled a dyed egg.
4. Add jelly bean votives
How cheerful looking is this?
A jelly bean votive for your Easter table.
Easy-peasy.
But I think these Easter place cards might be the fastest DIY project yet.
5. Baby Nest Place Cards
You could write on the egg but I decided to try using Silhouette Printable Tattoo Paper.
That’s because I’d recently seen some elegant looking eggs that were made using tattoo paper and I wanted to try them. But I ran out of time and decided to simply print out the guest names instead.
When printing on the tattoo paper you need to download fonts in reverse.
6. Wrapped Cookie Place Card
So. Maybe you’re not in the mood to make anything.
That’s ok too. Here’s a purchased Easter cookie already wrapped. I just added a name tag.
Now what guest wouldn’t like an edible place card?
7. Old fashioned Bunny Napkin Rings
And here’s a final little touch of whimsy for your table.
What could be more simple and inexpensive then a home-made napkin ring? And if you’re lucky enough to have young ones around the house, this would be such a fun project for them. I used brown cardstock but you could easily use paper towel holders for your “ring.”
- white cardstock, glitter cardstock (ears)
- brown Kraft cardstock
- cotton balls (cut and rolled into tiny ball)
- glue
- scissors
- 3D Foam squares
Cut a strip for your ring and glue together.
I used basic white glue because my glue gun is packed away.
Cut:
7 inch brown strip (1 1/2 inch wide)
2 inch oval-white cardstock
1 inch circle-white cardstock
2 1/4 inch ears-glitter cardstock
use 3D foam squares to attach bunny parts and cotton tail
Ta-da!!
Well, what you think?
Anything here you might use for your Easter table? I hope so.
And before I go …here’s a few more Easter links that motivated me to create something today.

Oh what pretty inspiration! That paper is so pretty and the perfect starting point for a spring table. And I love the painted jars with fresh flowers, jelly bean votive jars and cute nests! You really can create a lovely tablescape with very simple projects. Enjoy a wonderful Easter with your family Leslie!
have i mentioned that i love your blog lately? cuz i do. and jellybeans around a votive is the cutest thing i have ever seen. and how classy are those calligraphy eggs...i would feel sooooo special to be treated to your thoughtful and charming tablesetting. let's go paper shopping. i can't get enough of paper and in the 90s sometimes spent my grocery money at the scrapbook store on it.

I love all of your sweet ideas.
We will be in Cool for a Saturday Easter celebration with Steve's family.
I am in the process of making Easter baskets for my great nephew, my kids and each of my kids' significant others. I laugh because KC's boyfriend's Easter basket has Coors in glass bottles and golf balls. Our son's girlfriend is Turkish and has never had an Easter basket. I have a huge See's Easter bunny in hers and a beautiful scarf.
KC says her boyfriend is taking us to a "dive" called Jamie's Broadway Grill in Sacramento on Friday night. She has been there and thinks we will like it.
Of course you would come up with beautiful ideas for an Easter table. We are going out for brunch, but I think I'll make the little nests with eggs to take for place cards for each guest. Sweet idea!
Happy Easter!
Lots of great ideas for my Easter table. Your little nest place cards are adorable. Thanks for the inspiration!
Oh My Leslie!!! Your ideas are FAB. I am definitely going to try the painting of the jars (is it a special time of craft paint you use?) As for the name cards-they are genius! You are so talented. Have a wonderful Easter lovely lady. Sending Easter hugs from London xx
p.s I'm bookmarking this post so I ca refer to the ideas ;-)
Fabulous ideas, Leslie!!! I remember one Christmas when everything was in storage. It was a challenge, but it brought out a different sort of creativity. The kids jokingly called it the "paper plate" Christmas
I love the jelly bean votives ~ what a great idea ~ little effort and a big impact. We went to to hubby's cousins place yesterday so I will file these ideas away for next year! Happy Easter to you and your boys Leslie. xo
Hi Leslie-
I love ALL your ideas, but the miniature wreath with the moss and egg placecard is my very favorite. I feel the same way about pretty paper! An ACTUAL Paper Source store would be so fun to visit.
Happy Easter!
Jeanette
I came here to see what crafty goodness you were doing for Easter (and for other reasons too :)). I LOVE it all!
Oh dear, I've missed this before easter!! I adore the painted jars though & will definitely try it along with jelly bean votives which would be great for a party, hope you've enjoyed the Easter break, Vikki, xx
I somehow deleted your comment on my iPad so I have to respond here.
Yes, we made it to the "dive" and it was delicious. Steve and I split a burger and neither of us finished our half. Perhaps that was because we also ordered onion rings and they were delicious. The pub is on Broadway in an area my daughter said was "near the projects". It was our first time meeting our daughter's boyfriend and he picked up the tab which we didn't want him to do, but he snuck his credit card to the waitress before she brought the bill. I guess it is the good manners he learned from attending the Jesuit high school.
On Sunday morning, we went to a place for breakfast that we randomly chose called Bacon and Butter on 21st Avenue. We loved it and ate far more food than we should have for breakfast.
Lovely decorations! I took your idea and did the same way.

I LOVE everything about this post, Leslie...even if I'm seeing it past Easter...lots of ideas for anytime! I love Paper Source, too...and have bought many goodies from them! Thanks for sharing your creativity!
