Happy Weekend to you.
This first weekend of October is already looking good. Beautiful, sunny weather plus Patrick’s coming home for a visit. And maybe we’ll see the last James Gandolfino movie with him, I’ve been wanting to see a good romantic comedy (although I still feel sad about the loss of Gandolfino).
In the meantime I thought I’d show you a few photos of my entryway because I’m still at it. I’m still trying to tidy up the house for my Fall tour.
Although based on all the gorgeous home tours I’m seeing everywhere in blogland, it’s clear I may be the last one of the season.( is it just me? but I can’t figure out how everyone gets their homes decorated so quickly…what’s the secret anyway? please tell me if you know).
Anyway, back to my front door.
This is my entryway.
Even though I love seeing lush Fall decorations in photos, when it comes to my own entryway I really don’t do much. A few pumpkins, a pretty plate and some flowers, that’s it.
Maybe it’s because I really don’t have a traditional entryway. It’s more like a pass through area.
The French doors to my office are right there in the entry. Maybe you remember me painting these French doors from white to black. I also painted this entry table red on a whim and I still don’t love it, but it seems to go well with the Fall season.
This is the view from the front door. See what I mean? It’s a very open floor plan.
I love my quirky hat collection…
and this is the new plate, courtesy of the thrift store.
And before I go, here’s my little tip for the day.
If you don’t want to spend money on fresh flowers go outside and find a pretty tree. I cut a few branches and filled this pitcher with leaves a few fake berries.
How simple is that? Not a flower in sight.
Enjoy your weekend my friends….
xoxo
Leslie
I’m linking this post up with these friends:
I really love the contrast of your black French doors with the white walls! And I tend to keep my autumn decorating pretty simple too- I still haven't done mine and posted on it yet and have been meaning to!
ReplyDeleteWhatever you view as a challenge in your entry design, you've successfully buried in beauty.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Love your entry.
ReplyDeleteLeslie, your home is beautiful! I kind of do the same that you do...not too much decoration just a few things in certain areas of my home and always my entry and front door. Your tip is perfect about using cuttings from our own trees and shrubs. I love your quirky hat display I'm going to start one of my own! Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteLeslie, I don't see a challenge at all ~ everything looks lovely! I love the red cabinet and the plate with the black doors & touches of black added to the table top. You've done a wonderful job! I haven't done a single thing. :)

Such a cute entry..and I'm still crushing on those black French doors...but I see what you mean about the red color of the table...it looks great, but it's competing...maybe a warm/dark glaze over it and on the mirror...? that way you have a 3 way triangle thing going to tie in all your major components, the door, table and mirror...but what do I know. I'm definitely not a pro...it is still a gorgeous entry!
ReplyDeleteLove your style! It's so crisp and fresh. It's just lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, Leslie...your fall touches are beautiful! I love the way you have displayed your hat collection...
ReplyDeleteLeslie, I've not gotten one thing done around here to add a touch of fall, and won't have a chance to until next weekend. Don't know how others are so organized. I admire them. I just returned from visiting at my sister's. She had all her fall and Halloween decor out and about.
ReplyDeleteI think you home is lovely. I like the open look. Enjoy your weekend with your son.
Your entry is beautiful, Leslie! It was 92 degrees in central Florida today and I would love to see just a touch of Fall. Have a great weekend!

Leslie...I think you have the perfect entryway and it looks wonderful defined by the area rug. We open right to the living room and that is truly awful. You have a simple and cute festive fall look going on and my, I love that hat collection!! Great job! :)

My first thought was "white done right". I just love your white walls and trim with your black french doors! And your hat collection is a fun textural element. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove how welcoming your entry is - it beckons you to go beyond!
ReplyDeleteYour hat collection is the bomb! And I love the black doors against the white walls. Just between you and me, when I did my home tour in September I was not the least bit into decorating for fall yet, but I had promised someone I would participate. I find it hard to decorate when I am not "into" it yet. And then my neighbors thought I was a complete nutso for decorating my porch so early :)
ReplyDeleteOh how gorgeous!! You had me at the front door.
ReplyDeleteLove your hat collection.
Love Pam's quote.
ReplyDeleteI don't do much for fall and won't be doing Halloween this year because I like the fall decor I did this year.
I love your entry and of course I love the red cabinet.
I have the same scenario Leslie. YOu walk in our door and your are in...living area, kitchen to the left... no surprises are our place. You have a really nice large space though which makes it feel more "entry" to me. It all looks so lovely and inviting! And, I adore your hat collection. Shows the visitor right away that the people that live there have a sense of humour and are far from boring!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful! and I love the tip on cutting foliage from trees.
ReplyDeleteYour entry is just stunning Leslie! I love your front door, those tall ceilings, the planked walls, the black French doors, oh my, it's all so lovely! And you've styled it all so perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI love that red ~ but then again red is my favourite colour! I really like your fall décor ~ some overdue it but yours it perfect ~ just the right amount. Of course I have a potted mum out front with a few baby pumpkins ~ that has been the extent of my decorating so far this year. Hell ~ I am still making bunting for my craft room. I hope to get a few hours in there this coming weekend ~ we will see. Have a great week! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Leslie! Your home is so warm and welcoming and all the fall touches are so pretty. I like the black pieces scattered about and of course the french doors;) The cowboy hats are so fun! Every detail.. I need your help in my house! xxleslie
ReplyDeletelove it- 'specially those hats on the hat bar.:)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, girlfriend!
