Well my friends. April is finally here and somehow I’m not quite ready for her.
How about you?
It’s hard to put my finger on it… but if April was a party guest I’d find myself opening up my door feeling slightly annoyed. I’d be thinking,
“Oh no, you’re here already?! But I still haven’t wiped down the bathrooms yet!”
I don’t like that feeling. The sudden flinching when you realize the month’s half over. But it’s also a reminder that life round here has been pretty chaotic. And stressful too. Nothing big. Just a lot of little things happening in succession that leave you walking around with a stiff neck.
The good news is that we’re nearing completion of our swimming pool demolition and I seem to be getting used to all the noise and dust and the fact that nothing is where is should be these days.
But the bad news is that I’ve discovered I’m not really good at blogging when everything around me seems to be in a state of incompletion. It’s like having all these little orphan projects calling my name when I walk around the house,
“Psss.. Leslie, over here. I need you. Please. Sand me.”
“Paint me.”
“Clean me.”
“Fix me.”
Oh boy. If you’re a DIYer you know exactly how that feels.
So life these days seems to be about finding a good balance. And I confess it’s a constant learning experience. Maybe you can relate.
In the meantime today I’m doing something that makes me feel good. I’m returning to my tablescapes again and I’ve got some blue and green inspiration for you. A little rustic prettiness for your day.
How about an Easter table with a few rustic touches and lots of white?
For your Easter table I think dyed eggs make perfect place cards.
I used a gold marker to write on mine.
I used moss inside my vintage pots because I already had some leftover, but wheat grass would have been a cute substitute.
Yep, those are fresh, organic carrots. Added to the table for color.
Using a single flower like Bells of Ireland makes a statement. I also used white hydrangea at both ends of the table and decided against adding any other colors for simplicity.
(other than the carrots for fun)
Aren’t these burlap bunny ears sweet? They came four–in–a-pack from Michael’s Craft Store.
This is BM’s Kendall Charcoal in the dining room in case you’re wondering.
Are you hosting Easter this year?
Whatever your plans are, I wish you an abundance of love and blessings.
Happy Easter!
xo

So pretty! I never really decorate for Easter. Well, I probably only really decorate for Christmas when it comes to holidays, but I do love looking at other people's decor. :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Leslie. Love the use of the carrots. Have a blessed Easter.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the simplicity of your tablescape. It's perfect for Easter -light and "Springy."
ReplyDeleteLeslie,
ReplyDeleteThis table is absolutely charming. I love the green, white and touches of blue and I love the bunny ear napkin rings. Oh my goodness.
I'm exactly the same...I can keep calm as long as things around me are in order. It's crazy but I can handle most any hiccup if there's a tidiness at home. :-)
I hope you have a wonderful Easter with your family.
Karen
Leslie! How beautiful and bright your home! It sure looks like you're ready for Miss April, and she is pleased, no doubt! I'm just amazed that in three weeks I'll be 57....I think I'll open my door and say, "No, I'm not ready for you!"
ReplyDeleteBut your table is lovely; I love those bunny ear napkin rings and the aqua eggs. Let's welcome in April with open arms. HAVE FUN! Anita
I am loving all your color, Leslie. Shades of blue and green are my favorite and I love how you've used them in your table-scape...those eggs! I'm so pleased with the color of your dining room walls (I remember that decision on the blog) and that gold mirror. I envisioned perfection and it is. Beautiful images and wishing you a wonderful Easter dear Leslie.

Oh how pretty Leslie! I love the freshness of the bright greens. Bells of Ireland are a favorite. They were in Megan's wedding bouquet. And those carrots are so stinkin' cute! ... Hope you have been well. I am woefully behind on my blog reading again. ... Have a wonderful Easter!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your well written post and can totally relate to the feeling of being annoyed when invited guests arrive a tiny bit early because I'm not ready...though I am ready for April! By the looks of your tablescape, you are too. So pretty, love the colours and especially the addition of white doilies under the terra cotta pots. Hope you have a blessed and happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteSimply perfect! I smiled at the carrots in the jar. Love that idea! The simple green and white table speaks of spring and new beginnings. I'd say this table is rejoicing your new life in a new abode.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, dear Leslie.
Happy Easter to you, Leslie...I adore the egg place cards and the simplicity of white...perfection!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for popping by this week and your lovely comment...you made me smile from head to toe, bless you xx
This looks so festive...I have been put to shame. Guess it's not too late to get the table ready...even though we only have four people! Thanks for all the inspiration. Love the rustic elements.
ReplyDeleteOh Lordy!!! I LOVE your tablescapes. I still have bookmarked one you blogged about 2 years ago ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely words over at mine also xx
Beautiful Leslie...LOVE that photo of the reflection in the mirror!! I am hosting Easter this year there will be 18 of us. Have a wonderful Easter with your family!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful table, Gwen. Just love the eggs and nothing makes a drink look as pretty as striped straws!! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI love the eggs as place holders, and the carrots are a cute touch. Thank you! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteWell, you have been busy while I have been away from blogging. I didn't know you had a pool. Are you replacing it or removing it completely?
ReplyDeleteYou Easter tablescape is lovely - I pinned the little clay pot idea for the future. Neither of the kids is in town this weekend so we are having a quiet Easter. I am not up to crafting yet and I have to save my hand strength to finish up some decor for my future daughter-in-law's bridal shower this coming Saturday.
Can't wait to see your bathroom all finished.
oh leslie! no time for blogging here either so my posts were drafted weeks ago. your greens and blues lifted my soul right up. i am here in chaos. with a stiff neck (how did you know?). with mixed emotions. with a house full of belongings to sift through. with a heart and soul longing to purge and simplify. with a ton of energy trapped inside weak 50 year old flesh. with gratitude. oh the gratitude! for the opportunity to begin again. to see what i am made of and sense the strength of my God who is stretching me and whispers everyday i am being made whole. be encouraged, friend. you are a beautiful creature creating something special, and you have every right to feel exhausted emotionally and physically. i just know the results will be gratifying because they will have your fingerprints all over them. peace to you right where you are.
ReplyDeleteLeslie, a belated Happy Easter to you! I read this post when you wrote it and did not have time to post.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the long winter has everyone itching to be outside and enjoying Spring, forgoing the pleasures of blogging.
I love your tables capes, always have they are elegant, simple and you always capture the spirit of the day!
I am sure that you hour will be fabulous when finished, just take the time to relax and enjoy the process.
Elizabeth
Hi Leslie,
ReplyDeleteLove those burlap bunny ears, too cute! and the writing of names on the eggs is wonderful, have to do this next year. I hope you had a lovely easter. xx Nancy (Stonecrop Sister)
So pretty and clever...hope you had a wonderful Easter!
ReplyDeleteHow charming and whimsical, Leslie...and the green color is so wonderfully soothing to winter-weary eyes!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks wonderful, I even set up a tablescape for Easter in my dining room even though I did not spend Easter at home. It was a challenge pulling out my Easter decor out of all my moving boxes but I was able to manage. Not too much longer and I will be looking for my home sweet home again! Can't wait. Hope you had a lovely weekend, Leslie. Thanks for your visit. Oh, and I love Bells of Ireland. Haven't seen them in a while.
