Well, how’s your Christmas decorating going?
I have to say, I’m so amazed by all the beautiful decorations I’m seeing throughout the blog world and from my little spot, it does seem as if a lot of you are already finished. I must be a slow poke, because I’m still at it.
And today I wanted to share some of the things I’ve done this year in case you’re still decorating too. Just a few things that add a touch of specialness to a room (in my humble opinion)…
1. Paint your pinecones white.
You can go light or heavy, depending on your taste but this is my latest favorite thing to do. Dip your brush in white paint—I used whatever I had—and run your paintbrush from the top of the pinecone to the bottom. It’s an instant transformation. Thanks to Sharon at Elizabeth & Co. for this inspiration.
2. Hang bulbs from your chandelier.
I used thin white ribbon and red bulbs, and it looks so pretty in real life. Here’s a photo taken in the early morning.
3. Decorate your chandelier
Here I used only three basic items: fake garland, green moss and ribbon.
You can add miniature pinecones and tiny silver bulbs for soft color, or bulbs that compliment your color scheme. And it’s instant drama, don’t you think? I simply wound the fake garland through the chandelier arms and stuck the moss to it. I barely used any green floral wire at all because I found out that the moss sticks! It was that easy.
4. Create vignettes by using vintage books for height.
I think old books covers add texture and warmth to any room. In fact, I love old books so much this year I even made a Jane Austen inspired mantel.
5. Make a pretty (and inexpensive) centerpiece using baby’s breath.
Looking for a casual centerpiece for your table, one that lasts?
I added candlesticks, pinecones, silver bulbs and faux green apples. I put a plain twig wreath inside a glass hurricane with the apples and topped everything with snow.
There’s a total of four candlesticks and four jars of baby’s breath on the table.
6. Buy a bold Christmas pillow.
7. Make this easy wreath using fresh greens from your yard.
I really do prefer to decorate with fresh greens even though they look quite droopy by Christmas. So I usually end up using faux garland and adding fresh pieces here and there. But I love this wreath because it real! And so green and cheery looking.
I used boxwood clippings and if you’re interested, you can see how I made it HERE.
In the meantime I’m off to get some things done. And I do hope I gave you some ideas you can use. Let me know how your Christmas season is going so far.
I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
xoxo
